Open Question: I cant apply any new themes on my new laptop what's wrong?

I've looked through a lot of deals in Future Shop, Bestbuy, and Staples as well and other websites such as Dell. Looked at HP, Toshiba, Gateway, Sony, and others as well. The thing is it's been awhile since I'm buying a new laptop for myself, and man does technology advance quick. I'm so clueless of some of the terms lol Anyways, I just need a laptop with atleast 2GB RAM and should be fast and the screen shouldnt be bad in the sunlight or anything and also I need it for university so like playing 2 decent games on it like counterstrike and a sports game on it. The rest I'll probably use it for studying and msn, etc. So, which is the best deal out there at the moment and what recent laptop have you bought that's running nice and smooth? Open Question: Should I buy a broken LCD monitor off eBay at a cheap price?

Should I buy a broken LCD monitor from eBay at a much lower price with the hope of getting it successfully refurbished and making it usable again?

For example, a Dell 24" retails for around $550, while I can buy the same product on eBay for around $60 total albeit it's announced non-functional. I suppose that even giving it to a technician to fix or attempting it on my own will ultimately be cheaper, but am not specifically proficient enough in monitor repair to decide if it's worth my time.

What do you think? If it depends on the description of the technicality, what should I look for? >> full story
