Open Question: Acquiring the fastest from laptop by changing settings or virtual memory?

I ordered a Dell XPS M1710 laptop on the 30th of July. It was expected to be delivered by 16th August. This was then delayed to 30th August and now September 13th!
Why! I know they have a massive backlog with M1310's due to the colour lid production issue but why is mine delayed? I spent more than a thousand pounds on this pc, and i aint got it yet. Is it worth ringing them up and asking for some money off or something like that and is it likely to work. >> full story

Open Question: Dell 8300 Agp Graphics card compatability issues.?

I went out ot the store yesterday and bought a BFG Nvidea Geforce 7800gs Overclocked with 256mb of video memory. I put it into my computer and hooked up the extra power and, when i started up the computer all thing appeared normal (making the same noise, graphics card fan running), but there was no video. I put my old nvidea 5200 (128mb) back in and installed the new drivers. Then again i put the bfg back in, still will not display video. I have met all system reqirements, and installed it properly.So here's the question, why is this not working, and if it cant what graphics card will work?

512 ram
1 agp slot

I'm using dell inspiron 1501 with 2Gb RAM and Turion x2 processor. Can i change any settings to boost my graphics performance
