Open Question: battery not working on laptop?

I just recently installed a larger hard drive in my Dell Inspiron 1100 laptop with a fresh install of Window XP Home and all my other software. However, I have tried loading Yahoo 750.811 and the newest verison 8.0 yet when I click on the icon to lauch the program nothing happens.

This is very frustrating. Yahoo worked on this same laptop before I swaped out the hard drive and all the other programs are the same. I have all the same on my desk top as well and all is running fine there. What is the problem?

Has anyone come across this before and what did you do to correct this.

Open Question: I have 1GB of pc2100 (2x512). Will my system run faster if I pull out the PC2700 (2x256) that are in it now?

I have a dell dimension 3000 with a 2.4 ghz celeron that I am looking ot upgrade. it has 2 pieces of 256 MB ddr pc2700 for a total of 512 MB. Only two slots. Will I see a speed boost if I install 1GB of PC2100.

Dell 3000
2.4 GHz celeron (533 FSB)
pci nvidia mx4000 128 MB
SB Live 24 bit pci sound
