Open Question: Is there a difference between Dell motherboards and Stock motherboards?

I was considering pulling the guts of my Dell 8400 out of its case and placing them in a new ULTRA mid-tower case. The power supply for the dell is backwards, so that got me thinking if they used a proprietary motherboard too.

If you know the answer, could you provide me with a link too?
