Open Question: My Dell Laptop Will Not Boot....Why?

My Dell Laptop D610 will not turn on. I press the power button and the computer will not boot up. I have tried various things 1) Remove the battery 2) Only have connected the AC plug 3) Leave my laptop in the port.

After talking to a techie friend I removed the memory only 1 (256K)on the bottom of the laptop, and not the 2nd because the 2nd is under the keyboard. I re-installed the same memory and then I turned on the computer. Everything booted properly, and then a minute after I boot into windows the computer freezes. After waiting a long time I just hold on to the power botton to shut down. After that it will not work or boot up again until I remove then re-install the memory.

So I went to purchase brand new memory for both slots. The same thing happens. I can boot my computer but it freezes after a minute, and once I shut it down it will not re-boot until I recycle the memory. I have tried using only 1 memory in both slots....but no better. What could the problem be and $$$? When I do try to start my laptop Cap Locks blinks about 9 times. Then stops blinking and computer does not start.

The camera has an S-Video out which I'm guessing would be the way to do it. My computer is a basic model, straight from the factory Dell, with no added cards and such that I know of. Using Windows Movie Maker, what do I need to upload my camera to the computer?

I have switched from floppy disk storage to cd-r . but when i insert the disk in my 2005 dell computer and try to save pics o a screen keeps poppin up saying please insert disk in drive A??? when i already have a cd-r disk in the drive A?can somebody give me advice

Open Question: Wireless booster?

I live in a camper trailer park that provides wireless service. They supposedly are putting in more antennas to provide service throughout the park. I have a Dell Latitude D510 with a built in wireless card. Sometimes I can pick up a signal and get online, sometimes I can't. What do you recommend for a booster for under 100 bucks? I have to find out what type of antenna the manager is using.

Thanks for the tip. I've had issues with linksys in the past, but any service is better than no service

Open Question: The T and Y keys on my laptop are extremely sensitive and it messes up my typing- can I fix this?

They weren't always like that, the T button has since about late last year a couple months after I got it, and the Y button just a few days ago! Is there any way to fix this? It's driving me crazy! I have a Dell Inspiron B130.

Open Question: my computer is real slow and stupid.its new and already something is rong with it.?

ok i got this new computer like 3months ago from dell and yes its financed and i havent paid it all yet. i really dont know much about computers and i really dont know what the problem is. all i know is that is real slow and its frezzing alot ive checked the security on it and it doenst have any viruses or anything like that.so my question is can dell give me a new computer or atleast chick to see whats rong with it. and my other quetion is can dell take my computer away if i dont pay for it on time.

The computer is a dell 4550 dimension, using a GeForce4 MX. I'd like to upgrade to a 6000 series or greater. Motherboard doesn't have PCI-E slots... Running a P4 processor - 2.66ghz.....so i'm not ready to turn it in for new yet....

Open Question: Battlecraft Vietnam Problems?

I have a basic dell computer (dimension 3000) and i have a an Intel 82865g graphics controller. It has driver 6.14.10.4396 and a 96mb memory. Supposedly it fulfills all the requirements because i've been playing the game with no problems for a while. However i wanted to edit operation flaming dart so i opened battlecraft. But when i opened it, it said failed to open GL or something like that and it eventually froze. I know my graphics suck, im getting a new computer soon. But in the meantime are there any driver updates or anything i can do to fix this.

Open Question: why is my cd/dvd drive reading some disks but not others?

this just happen lately, I have a dell dimension E510 and it's about 1 year old... the cd/dvd rw drive used to work perfectly but now it only reads certain disks and not others... most of the time it doesn't read anything... is it dying? or do I just need to clean the head with a cd/dvd cleaner?

I just got a Dell XPS M1210 with Windows Vista and I'm having a bit of trouble with my WiFi. I guess a good term is that my connection is shaky. I have Linksys Wireless-G router and right now my laptop is the primary device using the connection. When I get on the internet with my laptop I run diagnostics and get the message saying "Windows confirmed that www.yahoo.com is currently online, but is not responding to connection attempts at this time" Then further says along the lines of "This usually means a firewall is running somewhere between the two computers and is blocking HTTP access". I went to my firewall settings on my desktop computer and added TCP port 80 and that didn't help. I have no real idea what could be wrong. I can use the internet and for hours occasionally but it goes in and out. Please help me, I will so appreciative.

I have recently been having a problem with a home network that I have set up for a friend.

Before we installed anything to the existing network this was the set up. The cable modem was directly connected to a dell desktop using a standard Ethernet cable.

When the time came that my friend bought a laptop that had wireless capability she wanted to have the freedom of a wireless network in her home. So we went to best buy to purchase a wireless router. We ended up purchasing a Linksys WRT54G Wireless Router. The reason for purchasing this model was that I had recently installed another friends wireless network which is still working to this day without a problem.

I installed the router with laptop being the only computer on the wireless side, The dell desktop I just connected using a standard Ethernet cable.

Everything seemed to work fine until about a week later my friend called my over because her inter net was not working on either computer. I have had a lot of experience in home networking so I found the problem pretty fast. After trying to communicate to the router through the web based utility I knew the router had to be the problem, after taking a look at the router itself I noticed that some of the lights on the router that normally blink or stay steady were not operating as they should. Knowing that sometimes the router screws up sometimes when the power goes out, I just pulled the power and reset the router. As guessed when power was applied the router fired back up and began well … routing. I thought that I had won that battle, but no, not this time. After several weeks of repeating the same steps we decided to return the router and get a new exact router to replace it, thinking that sometimes you get a lemon. We replace it in the same configuration as before. Everything worked perfectly and then a week or so after came the same problem. However a new problem had arised, her next-door neighbor started to have wireless connection problems with her wireless router (I installed this router, the same model router, about a year and a half before installing this router). I chalked her neighbor’s wireless problem up to having the same model router and the routers where having a conflict with each other.

Back to Best Buy we went to return the second router and purchase a different brand wireless router. We purchased a D-link WBR2310 Wireless router. Now after installing this router we had a little more success. The router seemed to work for a little longer but still would have to be reset about once every week and a half. The router indicator lights that indicate the wireless activity was dark, all 4 of the wired port activity lights were lit up solid, even though only port 1 was occupied. Once again I removed power from the router to reset it. Once power was restored everything fired up and began working like normal.

I got to thinking what could cause such a problem in two different brands on routers? I came up with that a sometime during the day power was somehow lost to the router and quickly restored causing the router to “trip” and hang with the weird lights to light up. I came up with an idea to put the router and the modem on a UPS Backup (uninterruptible power supply). This too worked for about a week and a half and then caused the same problem.

I have just about exhausted all ideas of solving this problem. SOMEBODY HELP PLEASE!

Open Question: I have 2XPmach on wifi router to the net they dont see each other firewalls are off know ip's get technical

Router is Netgear not secure, both conn fine to the net, followed wireless setup in XP NG. Tried Dell Net Asst NG. Tried net setup for Netgear NG.Both mach Sp2. One is media one pro.Cant ping either way.If you need more info will repost.

Open Question: My keyboard is all messed up. When i type it skips a couple lines up without doing anything?

This is so anoying. Please help someone. I have a dell laptop, and ever since installing VISTA, when I type, all the sudden after typing a few paragraphs, the cursor skips up a couple lines and what I am currently typing runs up into my previous paragraph, or a couple lines up, and totally screws up what I have typed. sometimes it even looks as if the words have been highlighted. Please Help Somebody!!

My computer screen goes almost totally black but you can still see it faintly. I am using a Dell laptop. It is about 3 years old. I have asked around and no one seems to have ever hear of this. I have to shut the computer down manually and restart then it seems to be fine for a while then it will do it again. Can anyone give me some advice as to what the problem may be or has this ever happened to anyone else. Thanks for helping.
